Landscaping & Turf

Landscaping in Selbyville, Delaware

Freeman Landscaping installs turf, putting greens, sod, trees, and garden beds across coastal Sussex and Worcester counties, so your yard looks as good next spring as the day we finish.

What We Offer

Our Landscaping Services

Every project starts with a free visit to your property.

Hardscape Installation

When walkways, steps, and a patio go in alongside new plantings, the hardscape sets the lines everything else follows.

Freeman Landscaping installs Cambridge and Nicolock pavers and concrete in the same project as your beds and lawn, so the edges meet cleanly instead of two crews working around each other. After one homeowner’s new steps went in, even the neighbors noticed the attention to detail.

Artificial Turf Installation

Turf rolled out over bare dirt is how dog owners end up with a yard that smells by July.

Keith installs a good bit of artificial turf, and the ground underneath gets graded and prepared first so water drains through instead of pooling under the blades.

If you live in an HOA, check the rules early, since some communities don’t allow turf in front yards.

Putting Green Installation

Less than three weeks from signed contract to finished: that’s how one homeowner described their new putting green and concrete from Freeman Landscaping.

Keith is on site while the green is built, so you can weigh in on the shape and slope as it comes together instead of seeing it for the first time after the crew leaves.

Landscape Installation

A full landscape installation changes the whole look of your property, from the beds along the house to the lawn and trees at the edge of the lot.

Freeman Landscaping focuses on installation, not weekly mowing, so your project gets a crew that’s there to build it. Keith listens to what you like and don’t, then suggests plants and layouts that fit how you use the yard.

Sod Installation

New sod goes down on ground that’s been graded and smoothed first, so it roots in evenly instead of settling into dips.

One customer worried their new grass, planted in late fall, wouldn’t make it through winter. By spring, they wrote, “it is beautiful and green.”

If you’re adding sprinklers, the same crew can install them so the new lawn is watered from day one.

Tree Planting

A tree you plant this year will shade your patio, frame your house, or screen a neighbor’s view for decades, so where it goes matters.

Freeman Landscaping plants trees as part of full installs or on their own, and one customer’s review simply says they did an excellent job planting three trees. Keith is on site for the planting, so you can settle on the exact spots in person.

Shrub and Plant Installation

Keith came out the same day for one homeowner and did what she called a wonderful job planting.

Freeman Landscaping installs shrubs and plants that fill out your beds and soften the edges of your house and hardscape. You talk through the choices with the owner directly, so you’re not left guessing what a crew put in while you were at work.

Garden Bed Installation

A 20-by-10 garden with a clean border and fresh mulch is all it took for one homeowner to say the front of her house “looks amazing.”

Freeman Landscaping builds new garden beds and reworks tired ones so they look finished from the street. Another customer said her landscape beds had never looked so good.

Erosion Control

Bare ground left after a project is how topsoil ends up in the street after the first heavy storm.

Freeman Landscaping handles erosion control as part of its installation work, stabilizing slopes and disturbed soil with plants, sod, mulch, or stone.

Delaware’s sediment rules require disturbed ground to be stabilized within 14 days of inactivity, so holding the soil in place is part of finishing the job.

Landscaping built for coastal soil

Most yards near the coast sit on loose, sandy soil with a high water table. It drains fast in some spots and holds water in others, and it doesn’t hold its shape well on its own. That’s why turf goes lumpy, new sod dries out, and garden beds wash out after a heavy rain.

We start every landscaping job with the ground. Owner Keith Freeman brings more than 20 years of excavation and grading experience, so the slope, base, and drainage are planned before anything goes on top.

One crew, one point of contact

Keith is on site for every job. You won’t be handed off to a project manager you’ve never met, and you’ll always know who to call with a question. From the first walkthrough to the final cleanup, the person who quoted your project is the one making sure it’s done right.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer lawn mowing or yard maintenance?

No. Freeman Landscaping focuses on installation: turf, putting greens, sod, plantings, garden beds, and the hardscape and drainage that go with them. We don’t run weekly mowing routes, so your project gets a crew that’s there to build it instead of fitting it in between maintenance stops.

What areas do you serve?

Freeman Landscaping is based in Selbyville and works from North Bethany down to Snow Hill, including Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Berlin, and inland toward Salisbury. Staying inside that range keeps Keith close enough to be on site during your project and to come back quickly if you need him later.

Is artificial turf a good idea if I have dogs?

It can be, as long as it’s installed with drainage in mind. Turf laid over bare, poorly prepared ground holds urine, and the smell gets worse in coastal summer heat. Freeman Landscaping grades and prepares the base before the turf goes down so water can drain through. Regular rinsing still helps, especially where your dogs go most. If you’re in an HOA, check whether turf is allowed in the front yard before you plan.

Will the owner actually be on site during my project?

Yes. Keith Freeman works on site with his crew of three to five, so the person who quoted your job is there while it’s built. If you have a question, you can ask him in person instead of trying to reach someone by text. His crew wears Freeman Landscaping shirts, so you always know who’s working on your property.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Freeman Landscaping holds a Sussex County business license plus separate licenses for the beach towns that require their own, and carries $2 million in liability insurance and workers’ compensation. That matters, because when an uninsured crew damages a home or a worker gets hurt, the homeowner can be left holding the bill.
