What We Offer

Our Design Services

Every project starts with a free visit to your property.

Landscape Design

The plan for your yard decides how it looks and works for the next twenty years, so it shouldn’t be a stock layout pulled off a screen.

Keith Freeman walks your property with you, plans the beds, lawn, trees, and hardscape around how you actually use the space, and then his own crew builds it.

Nothing gets handed off to a subcontractor who never heard the conversation.

Backyard Design

A good backyard plan starts with how you’ll spend your time out there: where you want morning coffee, where you need shade in the afternoon, and where everyone gathers at night.

Freeman Landscaping lays out the patio, turf, plantings, and fire pit around those moments, so the yard works for your routine instead of just looking nice from the kitchen window.

Outdoor Living Design

At bigger companies, a salesperson draws the plan and a crew you’ve never met builds it, and the details get lost in between.

At Freeman Landscaping, the person who designs your patio, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, and pergola is the same person on site while they go in.

Near the coast, that matters, because a new outdoor space has to be graded so storm water moves away from your house instead of toward it.

Pergola Installation

A pergola gives your patio a ceiling, turning open pavers into an outdoor room with afternoon shade and a place to hang lights.

Freeman Landscaping builds pergolas sized and placed to fit your patio and the way the sun crosses your yard, which makes a real difference in a coastal summer. It can go in with a new patio or over the one you already have.

Designs that start with how you’ll use the space

A good outdoor living design starts with questions. Where do you want to sit in the evening? Where does the sun hit in July? Do you entertain big groups, or want a quiet spot for two? Where does water go when it rains?

We walk your property with you, talk through how you want to use it, and plan the layout so the patio, fire pit, kitchen, turf, and plantings work together.

Planned by the people who build it

Because we build what we design, every plan accounts for what’s underground: sandy soil, a high water table, and where water needs to drain. Owner Keith Freeman’s 20+ years of excavation and grading experience means the design isn’t just pretty on paper. It’s buildable, and it will hold up.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you only design, or do you build it too?

Both. Freeman Landscaping designs your yard and builds it with its own crew, so there’s no handoff to another company. Keith Freeman plans the project with you and works on site while it’s built, which means the person who understands what you wanted is the one making sure it turns out that way.

How does the design process start?

It starts with Keith coming to your property. He walks the yard with you, talks through how you want to use the space, and looks at things like sun, slope, and where water drains. From there, you get a free quote for the project. Meeting in person means your questions get answered on the spot instead of over a string of text messages.

Can you design around what’s already in my yard?

Yes. Plenty of projects keep a good existing patio, mature trees, or established beds and build the new design around them. Keith will tell you honestly what’s worth keeping and what’s holding the yard back, so you don’t spend money replacing things that still work.

What should I check before designing my backyard?

Start with your HOA and your town. Many neighborhoods in coastal Sussex and Worcester counties require architectural approval for patios, pergolas, and fire pits, and some beach towns limit how much of a lot can be covered by hard surfaces. If your home is in a flood-prone area, grading matters too, because a new patio can’t send water toward your house or your neighbor’s. Knowing these limits up front shapes a plan that gets approved the first time.

What areas do you serve?

Freeman Landscaping is based in Selbyville and works from North Bethany down to Snow Hill, including Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Berlin, and inland toward Salisbury. Staying inside that range keeps Keith close enough to meet you in person during the design stage and to be on site while your project is built.
